Even for a story revolving around a blood thirsty mutant born of sexual mutilation, Tate Steinsiek's 2020 remake of the mid 90's cult classic, Castle Freak, is over sexualized. The flick is brimming with pointless nudity and awkward sex scenes starring directionless caricatures with no semblance of on or off screen chemistry. Unable to count on a cast of amateur actors and fashion models dipping their toes in the film industry - leading lady, Clair Wuestenberg - the film attempts to use cheap jump scares and gross shock values imagery to keep its audience awake. Someone on the makeup team obviously had some idea of what they were doing, but even the most skilled effects artists in Hollywood could not have salvaged this blatant cash in on the cult classic namesake.
