The Cellar, a recent addition to the Shudder Original line up, is a solid little spook, but certainly isn't pushing any boundaries. Of its few well executed scare tactics the most successful is its full and classic sounding orchestral soundscape which does better to push forward the cookie-cutter storyline than the light weight cast. Doing only the best they can with some generally shallow characters and lack luster dialogue, them and the writers are lucky for the effects team doing the real heavy lifting. Their aforementioned scare tactics carry the flick into not quite recommendable, but at least watchable.
