PRESENTS

MONSTER DESIGN - The multitude of "monsters" made this movie.
MONSTER INTERACTION - A constant threat and involvement throughout.
MONSTER ORIGINALITY - I love the spirit beings and supernatural usage.
MONSTER FEAR FACTOR - From the sprinkling of quick imagery in the beginning to the blatant creature display at the end, this shook me.

PRACTICAL EFFECTS - So many amazing moments.
CGI/ANIMATION - Many of the CGI moments were stunning and not overly heavy handed.
FX MAKEUP - Loved the fingers under the skin. Sparsely utilized but strongly portrayed.

STORY - TOP DRAWER.
CHARACTERS - TOP TOP DRAWER.
DIALOGUE - A couple of moments felt on the nose in writing but nothing took me out.

This is one of the best creature features I've ever seen. I feel strongly that this film deserves a solid review. So many of the shots were delicately constructed in ways that put me in awe. The soundscape is beautifully structured and the lighting in every shot was hugely effective. The scenes dip into the surreal and dreamlike without warning which makes the viewer work hard to separate from reality. Colonialism, saviorism, and racism are undercurrent themes that shape the obstacles and I would for sure give this film a good watch.
