DIRECTOR BIO
Derek Bensonhaver is a Director based out of Albuquerque, NM. He also works professionally as a Property Master, both in New Mexico as well as in California, and also belongs to the Property Masters Guild. He has been making films of all genres since High School, but has gravitated mostly into the Horror genre and sub genres. He has had short films screen all over the world including winning awards in other countries including Australia.

Derek has worked on a plethora of films on the professional level, including Oppenheimer, Logan, Army of the Dead, Reno 911: Its a Wonderful Heist, and Finch among other projects, and for personal work has directed several short films that have screened all over the world

DIRECTOR STATEMENT
I have been making films ever since myself and friends found an old VHS camcorder and some blank tapes. We were just having fun, but I quickly realized how much I truly enjoyed telling stories and the reactions it got. Making people laugh, or cry, or be scared or be moved by the stories and images i'm projecting has always blown me away. I started volunteering at a local monthly film festival where I met others who took making films more seriously and learned a ton from them, and eventually the love blossomed into a full time project for me, where all I did was work on making more movies, until I was able to join into the New Mexico IATSE Local 480 in the Art Department doing Graphic Design and Props. Since then I have worked my way into IATSE Local 44 as well in Los Angeles CA, and even joined the Property Masters Guild to further my career in film. I have never stopped making films of my own as well, as I still enjoy telling stories and creating films more than anything else in life.
