PRESENTS

It's hard to knock this movie for anything because it seems so self aware. There's a surprising amount of really well done practical effects, gore make up and CGI but it's married to a bunch of really hoker, phony, cheesy moments. Again, its corny on purpose so it's hard to really critisice it for any of the corniness. The tone is campy and thats just what it wants to be. The bugs are unique, but the anatomy is surface level. They look cool, but we never get any sense of why they act the way they do. Also the different types of "bug' species look like they're from different movies. There's no through line to any of it. Some really cool robotics, some fun stunts. The writing and acting is terrible and the story is predictable, but none of that stops it from being at least fun to watch.
