PRESENTS

Fun Movie. It's very cliche Chinese action though. The characters are all very cookie cutter, the story is extremely predictable, but it doesn't ruin the fun for me. The monster looks great! It doesn't seem like they really tohught through any anatomy or behavioral stuff which is a bummer, becasue the look of it is really cool and unique and I would have loved to see that look backed up with some real substance. It would have taken it to the next level. The CGI is really clean in some parts and then staggers pretty bad at other spots. Same with the make up and effects. Some of the wounds look really really good and then suddenly they'll be some ridiculous bright red fountain of blood comnig out of some guy that just looks so phony and over done. All in all this movei definitely falls just north of average for me.
